 | | Don Brown has been a professional member of ASSE since 1972, but his safety background began in 1961 in the US Marine Corps. Back in those days, it was not a full time position and the learning curve was slow, but supplemented by many schools, seminars and on the job training. He is a graduate of Pepperdine University and a graduate of both the Federal OSHA and California OSHA Compliance Engineer's Schools. As a Safety Consultant, he developed the Safety Program for McDonald's Restaurants, worldwide. As a Safety consultant, he developed highly successful safety programs for CBS in Hollywood, Paramount Pictures, Builders Emporium and many others. He was instrumental in developing the first OSHA Compliance and Training Program for the United States Marine Corps. As a Corporate Safety and Training Manager, he developed highly successful safety programs for The Packaging Corporation of America, Fed Mart Corporation, Varco Oil Tools and Pep Boys. Don has qualified in California and Federal Court as an expert witness in Safety and Training. He has written, directed and produced over 2,000 safety and training video programs. Don recently was invited to the United Nations, International Labor Organization, where he was asked to speak about new online training technology, new training technology for DVD’s and worldwide development of safety online training for developing countries. The ILO and ASSE recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement to work together towards the common objective of preventing illness and injuries in the workplace across all industry sectors through advocacy, promoting awareness, knowledge development information dissemination, and the application of relevant standards and industry best practices in the community and workplace. Digital 2000 will be an integral part of the program through its support to the ILO. |
